Concern: The Chester County Library does not keep enough of the donated books and they have too many old books.
Response: When the Chester County Library receives donated books, the director goes through those boxes and looks to see if there are books that will be added to the library collection or if those books will go into the books sale. While we wish that we could add every single donated book to our collection, we simply do not have the room and it is not feasible to do so. There are 15 main criteria that the director goes by in determining what items will be kept and what will be put into the book sale. There are also 8 criteria that the director goes by for determining every year what items will be removed from the collection. A large portion of the book sale items that are purchased by the public come from the library's collection. The Chester County Library is CONSTANTLY adding new materials to the collection. Please stay tuned to our newsletter, Facebook/Instagram, the local newspaper (the Independent) and our website for a list each month of new titles purchased for all sections of the library. |

Concern: The Chester County Library needs to have more technology available for public use.
Response: The Chester County Library is regularly making efforts to increase the technologies and improve the accessibility and ease of use of technology within the library. Some technology points we would like to address include 3D pens/3D printing, playaways (similar to an audiobook but instead of a disc to listen to, the book is recorded on a listening device and has headphones), and a learning children's tablet.
